More often than not I am asked this question, “when should I mail my wedding invitations?”. If you Google to find the answer, I guarantee you will find multiple timelines and suggested answers. It tends to get very confusing so I am sharing my tricks with you.
I always work backwards from your actual wedding date. First thing to do is find out when your wedding venue needs their final headcount. Once you have that date, go back at least a week and a half to two weeks and make that your RSVP date. Why? As much as you won’t want to hear this, you are going to have stragglers. Stragglers are those wedding guests that won’t send back their reply card. Unfortunately this happens to every bride.
The 1 – 2 week window gives you time to call those guests and find out if they are indeed coming to your wedding. It’s important to get a solid headcount because you don’t want to have to pay for guests that won’t be attending….a total waste of money.
Next step would be to take your RSVP date and go back about 6 – 8 weeks and use that as your desired mailing date. Make sense?
